Hello! A couple of years ago I was asked to paint a portrait of a much loved family pet dog. Until then I considered myself a landscape painter but during the time I spent working on capturing a likeness and character of this pet, a spark ignited my love affair with painting pets and animals.
The majority of my portraits are created from photographs that people provide. I spend a lot of time looking at the image ensuring that the initial drawing captures a likeness. I then develop the portrait using the highest quality materials to ensure I can achieve bold and saturated colours.
I have always been passionate about drawing and painting and I love combining this with the pleasure I get from creating portraits of animals. Having had pets of all sorts from a very young age I know how special our furry or non furry pet companions are to us and how much laughter they bring. For my commission work I use soft pastels, coloured and charcoal drawing pencils.
I love working on velour paper which has a velvety texture. It creates a lovely soft finish to the art work that I feel enhances the look of an animals fur.
